Major Recruitment are looking for an experience Sheet Metal Worker for a successful engineering company in Darwen on a permanent basis, this is a fantastic opportunity for the right person.


As a Sheet Metal Worker, you will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and repair of high-precision sheet metal components used in aircraft and aerospace structures. This is a hands-on role requiring expertise, attention to detail, and adherence to strict aerospace standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate, assemble, and install sheet metal parts according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment including shears, brakes, presses, and CNC machinery.
  • Perform drilling, riveting, and fastening operations to create secure, durable metal assemblies.
  • Repair and modify aircraft components, ensuring all work meets exacting aerospace standards.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure quality and compliance with tight tolerances.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and quality teams to resolve fabrication challenges.
  • Maintain a safe, organised workspace and adhere to all PPE and safety protocols.
  • Document processes, material usage, and inspection results accurately.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years’ sheet metal experience, ideally in aerospace.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency with aluminium, titanium, stainless steel, and other aerospace materials.
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments such as callipers, micrometres, and height gauges.
  • High attention to detail with a commitment to quality.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Physical ability to handle large metal sheets and work in various positions.
